When Roland sands was approached with design inspirations, Roland Sands mentions and architect. “I really look up to guys like Frank Gehry”, he says. “He builds amazing things”. Unlike Gehry’s motionless object, Roland Sands prefer to create structures that are able to move. In 2006, Sands forever introduced the world with KRV5, that became an immediate elite motorcycle in the industry. The KRV5’s design is derived from the early board trackers, with drop bars, thin tire and a rigid frame. A 200 plus hp engine is strategically placed in a narrow chassis which happens to be handcrafted.
Kenny Rogers the legend himself lent one of prototype’s blueprint to Sands. That blueprint was used to some extent to design the new KRV5 motorcycle. A former Grand Prix National Champion, Sands is well aware of racing engineering. The machines of Roland Sands Design has high expectations of maximum capacity of work provided. Sands note “I want people to look at my bikes and go ‘Damn, that looks cool, I want to ride that.’”
