Sony just launched its DSC-G3, the first WIFI digital camera that we’ve seen with a web browser. The goal is to up upload photos to the web quickly, and that’s a WIFI thing, really. The first good news is that the Sony G3 can connect to secure and public WIFI hotspots, including hotels and airports. These have been known to be a pain on some portable devices. The second highlight is that customers will have a free WI-FI connection with AT&T (USA) . Sony did a similar deal for the Mylo 2, and it’s certainly a good thing.
Thanks to the browser, there’s no need for a special service or API. Users just go to the website as they would do on a computer. The downside is that it is likely a bit more complicated and time consuming than having a specialized service, like Eye-Fi

The DSC-G3 also comes with a lot of smartness found in recent digicam: smile detection and so on. We’ll let you browse the product page to see those, as they are fairly boring.
