Sometimes designers submit ideas that aren’t revolutionary but when they include descriptions that read like personal vendettas, I pay attention. This BRD concept is a single seater, totally driver-centric for Formula One like driving.

The 2011 Porsche GT3 R Hybrid is more than just a pretty car; as this video shows, it’s got some serious legs too.
What’s even more impressive is that the 2011 911 GT3 R has a hybrid drive that combines a 480hp 4.0-liter flat six engine with two electric motors developing 60 kW each, in addition to an electrical flywheel power generator that’s fitted inside the cockpit next to the driver. (more…)

| The EB-48S Concept designed by Emil Badal, featuring an engined of V6 Supercharged 4.8L, LED lighting… It’s another breed of EB brand, a mid engined V6 Supercharged 4.8L. The whole lighting system in this car is based on hi-bright LEDs with Neon back lights in the front. The tail-lights in EB-48S have 3 sections which their lights changes between three common colors(Red,Orange and white) continuously depending on the conditions. For example in day-light if the driver turn on the turn-indicator the whole tail-light flashes with the orange LED and if he brakes while turning two sections out of three turn red. In other words the tail-lights are prioritized, maximizing the amount of awareness for other drivers. (more…) |

French automobile and motorcycle builder Lazareth has managed to shoehorn an entire BMW V12 engine into one of its crazy Wazuma quads. While there isn’t much that’s environmentally friendly about a 500-horsepower supercharged V12 from BMW that’s powering a rather large and impractical quad platform, Lazareth has decided to attempt to give the machine a bit of eco-cred by running the engine on E85. The same technology that lets cars drive themselves allows the blind to drive, too.
Virginia Tech undergrads packed an all-terrain buggy with technology lifted from the university’s DARPA Urban Challenge entry to create a car the blind can drive. The semi-autonomous vehicle uses a laser range finder, voice software and other sensory technology, and it worked flawlessly when blind drivers took the wheel on a closed course. Advocates for the blind joined the lead researcher in calling the vehicle a breakthrough in independent living for the visually impaired. (more…)

Roadable airplanes are the future. Flying cars, as they may be called, are vehicles that ply on the road and fly in the sky. While the big guns, Terrafugia and Moller, have already made their intentions of introducing flying cars clear by inviting pre-orders for their roadable airplanes, it is Parajet that’s making the latest mark by offering it’s road legal flying car, the SkyCar, for pre-order. Expected to start selling toward the end of next year for an estimated price of £50,000 (about $81,700), the Parajet SkyCar can be pre-ordered now for a refundable £10,000 (about $16,381).

UK-based designer Nick Fisher has dreamed up a folding electric motorcycle called Evergreen that may be too simple or just right depending on how you look at it. You probably wouldn’t want to take this thing on the highway, but then again you really don’t need to drive an SUV to a grocery store, do you? (more…)

I love art cars! I’ve always wanted to paint up my car with a cool design but with my artistic skills it would look like something a drunk 3rd grader would draw. I see tons of these BMW made Mini Coopers on the streets near where I live- there are very few garages or driveways so street parking is essential and the little Minis can fit into spots that most other cars are forced to pass by. But I’ve never seen Mini’s as cool as these two!

Smug about your 65 mpg Prius potential? Don’t be. A little car from up-start Riversimple looks set to deliver the equivalent of 300 mpg, running on hydrogen and utilizing a network of small fuel cells to power four motors, one per wheel. The recently unveiled prototype manages 240 miles on just 2.2 lbs of hydrogen, has a top speed of 50 mph, seats two (reasonably) comfortably, and looks a little like a smiling, new-age Citroen 2CV — but will hopefully be a more enjoyable to drive. It was only a matter of time before the gold BMW M5 was complemented with a chrome BMW M3. Surprisingly (or unsurprisingly), this car also belongs to a Russian car enthusiast. Video after the break.
