The new Eee PC T101MT 10.1 inch LED backlit resistive touchscreen notebook computer was first shown at this year’s CES in Las Vegas and was known about even before that. Now ASUS has made things official with a product website, confirming that it will ship with an Intel Atom N450 processor, up to 2Gb RAM and a choice of 160Gb or 320Gb hard drive. It will also come with a year’s worth of online storage thrown in.

Users of the Eee PC T101MT from ASUS will be able to choose between a familiar, standard Windows 7 mode when using it as a clamshell notebook or a Windows Touch mode when swiveled round and folded into a tablet. The 10.1in (1024 x 600) LED backlit resistive multi-touch screen has a 256-level pressure sensor to accurately register gesture-based commands input by the user. As you would no doubt expect, the unit recognizes handwriting input by finger or by the included ergonomic stylus and detects the difference between intentional input and incidental screen pressure.

The 264 x 181 x 31 mm (10.4 x 7 x 1.2 inch), 1.3 Kg (2.86lbs) T101MT is powered by Intel’s Atom N450 processor which, when working with the ASUS Super Hybrid Engine energy management technology, should get six and a half hours from the Li-polymer battery. There’s a choice of 1Gb or 2Gb DDR2 RAM and the 160Gb or 320Gb of HDD storage is supplemented by 500Gb of online storage in the shape of ASUS Webstorage (which is free for the first year).

Other features include an ergonomic chiclet keyboard, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR, a 0.3 megapixel integrated webcam, HD audio codec, three USB 2.0 ports and SDXC card support (up to 32Gb).

The Eee PC T101MT, available in either black or white, has been penciled in for an April release and the only word on pricing comes courtesy of Amazon’s German website which is showing the notebook for pre-order at a rather expensive Euro 499 (US$685).

Windows 7 Phone By ASUS In 2011http://gizmoave.com/2010/02/18/windows-7-phone-by-asus-in-2011/ http://gizmoave.com/2010/02/18/windows-7-phone-by-asus-in-2011/#comments Thu, 18 Feb 2010 23:36:27 +0000 Salman Khan http://gizmoave.com/?p=2749 windows-7-asus

A few days ago at MWC 2010, when Microsoft unveiled Windows Phone 7 Series, it demoed the new OS on an Asus-made smartphone, saying that the device won’t be commercially available. However, it looks like a different (or maybe similar) Asus smartphone is in the making, and Microsoft plans to launch it as “its own phone”

The Street has it that, according to analyst Ashok Kumar (who was the first to provide details about the Google Nexus One), Asus and Microsoft “have encountered some setbacks on the road to manufacturing” the smartphone, which should be “the next Apple iPhone killer or Google Android annihilator.”

Reportedly, the Microsoft-Asus phone might be launched in early 2011, obviously with Windows Phone 7 Series on board.

But before Microsoft’s own phone comes out (if ever), we’ll see several other Windows Phone 7 Series handsets made by manufactures like HTC, Samsung, LG, Sony Ericsson and Toshiba, which have all announced their support for the new OS.

Garmin-Asus Nuvifone A50http://gizmoave.com/2010/02/16/nuvifone/ http://gizmoave.com/2010/02/16/nuvifone/#comments Tue, 16 Feb 2010 07:24:25 +0000 Salman Khan http://gizmoave.com/?p=2605 nuvifone-a50

The nuvifone A50 runs on Android 1.6, but you won’t be able to spot it unless you’re very familiar with the operating system. The reason being Garmin-Asus has almost completely reskinned the user interface. Like the M10, we like what we saw on the software so far. The A50 supports Google Street View and it lets you add location information on your text messages. It also synchronizes with Microsoft Exchange, so that’s good news for business users. Enough rambling. Check out the video for a quick look at the device.

ASUS EEE PC 1101HAhttp://gizmoave.com/2009/06/16/asus-eee-pc-1101ha/ http://gizmoave.com/2009/06/16/asus-eee-pc-1101ha/#comments Tue, 16 Jun 2009 13:55:41 +0000 Salman Khan http://gizmoave.com/?p=2339
Some people complain Asus releases too many Eee PCs, but it’s not true. The company only announces new ones when the day of the week has a ‘y’ in its name. Today just happens to be one of those days, so kick back, relax and get a load of the Eee PC 1101HA — Asus’ largest netbook to date.

It’s the first Eee laptot (see what we did there? etc) to use an 11.6-inch display, so it’s slightly larger than the 10-inch norm. This will put a few people’s noses out of joint, but the extra girth means it should have an awesome keyboard — and the big 1,366×768-pixel screen will appeal to those who watch films in bed and on planes.

Outside, it uses an attractive ‘Seashell’-inspired chassis, like the one we saw on the Eee PC 1008HA. Inside, there’s an Intel Z530 CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive and a six-cell battery pack that Asus reckons will last around 9.5 hours. In other words, it looks great and probably works well, but it’s basically the same as pretty much every other netbook on the market today.

Launch date and pricing are still TBC, but we reckon it’ll ship before the summer’s out and will cost in the region of £400. We’ll give you more info as we get it.

Asus New HTPC Keyboardhttp://gizmoave.com/2009/01/12/asus-new-htpc-keyboard/ http://gizmoave.com/2009/01/12/asus-new-htpc-keyboard/#comments Mon, 12 Jan 2009 19:54:12 +0000 Salman Khan http://gizmoave.com/?p=2063 Asus HTPC Keyboard

Asus has certainly come a long way as a company in terms of its product line up since its early days, and their booth at the recently concluded CES was certainly a show stopper with tons of concepts and new devices to check out. Among them was the Asus HTPC keyboard concept that features the following :-

* 5″ built-in LCD display
* Intel Atom 1.6GHz processor
* 1GB RAM
* 16/32GB SSD
* Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity
* Wireless HDMI (w00t!)
* Two USB 2.0 ports
* VGA, HDMI and audio in/out

This nifty little device is powered by Windows XP Home, and strangely enough, it lacks a TV tuner. Asus’ CEO claims that this will be out sometime between 3 to 6 months from now for a yet undisclosed price. How much are you willing to fork out for this?
