Sony just launched its DSC-G3, the first WIFI digital camera that we’ve seen with a web browser. The goal is to up upload photos to the web quickly, and that’s a WIFI thing, really. The first good news is that the Sony G3 can connect to secure and public WIFI hotspots, including hotels and airports. These have been known to be a pain on some portable devices. The second highlight is that customers will have a free WI-FI connection with AT&T (USA) . Sony did a similar deal for the Mylo 2, and it’s certainly a good thing.

Thanks to the browser, there’s no need for a special service or API. Users just go to the website as they would do on a computer. The downside is that it is likely a bit more complicated and time consuming than having a specialized service, like Eye-Fi

Quick Specs

  • 4X Optical Zoom, Carl Zeiss lens
  • 10 Megapixel
  • 4GB internal memory

The DSC-G3 also comes with a lot of smartness found in recent digicam: smile detection and so on. We’ll let you browse the product page to see those, as they are fairly boring.

Cyber-shot T700 with 4 GB internal memoryhttp://gizmoave.com/2008/10/24/cyber-shot-t700/ http://gizmoave.com/2008/10/24/cyber-shot-t700/#comments Fri, 24 Oct 2008 20:31:28 +0000 admin http://gizmoave.com/?p=595

Raise your hand if you have ever left your digicam’s memory card at home. Okay, now get your hands on Sony’s latest 10-MP shooter, which packs an impressive 4 GB of internal memory (enough for almost 1,000 images at maximum resolution) into a svelte body. The 3.5 inch touchscreen LCD nearly swallows the back of this camera and will sort and display your 10.1 MP photos (with up to 4x optical zoom) in an array of options: by date event , favorites, and even faces only. Sony includes the essentials, such as face and smile detection, image stabilization, and manual options. The onboard software provides fun photo-editing options, such as partial-color filtering (to single out one color and convert the rest to black and white), fish eye lens, and a retro filter to creating a subtle spotlight effect. Take your pick of silver, dark gray, red, pink, and champagne gold models.

Price for Sony Cyber-shot T700: $399
